A Call to Action – Supporting New Graduate Nurses Transitioning to Practice
The California Registered Nurse Specialty Apprenticeship Program is a unique 12-month Transition to Practice Program offered through HealthImpact – California’s Action Coalition and Nursing Workforce Center.
The Future of Nursing 2020-2030 recommends an established standard of transition to practice programs, as a critical priority for new graduate nurses entering the emerging workforce.
The CALIFORNIA REGISTERED NURSE SPECIALTY APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM is available in the LOS ANGELES REGION to prepare new graduate nurses (with less than 6 months of practice experience) and experienced RNs transferring to a new position in the AMBULATORY CARE PRACTICE SPECIALTY.
How Our Program Exceeds the Standard
• A structured transition to professional practice, rooted in building skills necessary to succeed in ambulatory care.
• Expert faculty help foster, mentor and guide professional practice through evidence-based practice and theory.
• Unique access to a regional community of peer support and ambulatory care leaders throughout the state of California.
HealthImpact will be collaborating with HASC, a hospital trade association, to coordinate efforts 
and recruit employers to participate in the regional program to meet their workforce needs.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
Instruction incorporates online synchronous zoom workshops with real-world clinical application and hands on training
CURRICULUM
Provides 260 Hours of “related supplemental instruction” that supports the new graduate nurse in their new full-time ambulatory role
FACULTY SUPPORT
Program faculty ratio of 10:1 allows for dedicated 1:1 coaching, mentoring and professional development
