This webinar will invite educators in academic institutions and clinical agencies to consider skills acquisition in the context of patient safety to create a sense of salience for the learner. Strategies of creating situated context for psychomotor and non-technical skills development will be discussed.
In the Practice Apprenticeship, we have chosen to focus on these two crucial areas of urgently needed transformations in nursing curricula: 1) how to create meaningful and effective clinical teaching and learning experiences to expand teaching knowing “that”, “about” and “what” to also focus on knowing “how” and “when.” Both require higher-order thinking and situated coaching. 2) the use of simulation to improve practice readiness in academic institutions and clinical agencies.
